About We Train the Trainers

We Train the Trainers is a collaborative website created by Marcia Jackson and Sharon Bowman. We offer dynamic new training products for trainers and teachers – products that make learning memorable, exciting, informative, and fun!

Testimonials:

Michael Dawson, Training Specialist, Department of Defense:

The facilitator's guide is extremely easily to follow. The format of the workshop flowed with ease from one point to the next.

The PowerPoint slides and facilitator’s and participant’s materials were well organized. The workshop encouraged participation, cooperation, and high energy. At the end of the training, workshop participants stood and applauded with enthusiasm and elation. This is a super idea to facilitate this workshop directly in the workplace.

What a few of Michael’s participants had to say:

• The “quick to implement” activities were great. I could take them and use them in my courses immediately. The way that Michael delivered the workshop was for a beginner to advanced level trainer.

• I love courses/exercises that got me thinking “out of the box” and validate the good teaching techniques that I’ve learned before.

• A truly insightful study into escaping the dangers of lectures. I look forward to getting people excited about learning again.

* Learning how learners learn and retain information was very informative. I now can rethink the way I deliver training.

• I’m now re-energized about teaching and facilitating. I learned so many ways to “amp up” my training style to help make the training “stick.” The workshop was fun, interactive, and insightful.

Katie P. Mangett, CHT, Quality Development Manage, Xanterra Parks and Resorts:

I found the trainer's guide to be very user-friendly. It provided me with all the information I needed to effectively facilitate "Preventing Death by Lecture". The guide included background information and materials, power point slides and reference materials all in one easy-to-follow format. Thanks to the thoroughness of the trainer's guide, my first PDL class was energizing and fun to teach and I received an enthusiastic and positive response from the participants! Sharon and Marcia have successfully translated their upbeat and interactive style into a facilitator's guide for trainers at all skill levels.

What some of Katie’s participants had to say:

• I wish all training classes were this fun, educational, and rewarding. This was the best train-the-trainer workshop.

• The training class was like a buffet – take what you like, leave the rest. It was fun, interactive, and informative and really made me rethink the way I train.

• There were so many valuable ideas and things I can bring into my classroom. It made so much sense. This is the best class I have taken to enhance my training job.

• I came away with more enthusiasm and excitement about becoming a trainer!

• I think this program is one of the best and should be used regularly. Wakes them up and shakes them up!

• The presenter of this program has to be very knowledgeable and energetic – Katie has definitely exceeded the standards required for conducting this class.

Pam Clark, PD Animateur, Red Deer College, Canada:

I felt very comfortable presenting the material and I appreciated having a script to follow and thorough directions in the manual. It was helpful to have lots of great examples and a good variety of activities. Having the PowerPoint slides greatly decreased my preparation time. Obtaining the manuals was simplified through the Pay Pal process and by speedy delivery. I loved doing this workshop – it was lots of fun and the participants thought so too!

What Pam’s participants had to say:

• I came with a need and it was resolved in 20 minutes.
• There are numerous strategies to enhance and enrich.
• This session was very actively delivered; it was engaging and interesting.
• It was valuable to be engaged in active learning as participants
• Small group work helped drive home key points.
• My key learning – “brain works” – why students “tune out” after 10 minutes.
• I now understand the brain’s function in learning.
